What's your story?

I Almost Died Today

I Almost Died Today

Just as

We live

We

Almost

Died

Today.

Everything

We

Do

Teeters

On

Life

And

Death,

From drinking

Our

Morning

Coffee

To

Tying

Our

Own

Shoelaces.

Who knows

If you

Burn

Your

Tongue

And

Throat

Away?

What if

You trip

Down

An

Escalator

Going

The

Opposite

Direction?

I almost

Died

Today,

But

I lived

To

See

Another,

And that

Is

Something

To be thankful

For.

Treat

Each

Day

With

Your

Fullest

Energy,

Because like

A

Battery,

We too

Run

Out

Someday.

There’s

No

Calling

Triple-A

Or

Screaming

Aaaa,

When your

Lights

Dim

Down

And the

Battery

Has

Run

Out

Of

Fun.

A friend

Once

Told

Me,

“I almost

Died

Today”,

And

I took

For

Granted

How

Real

That feeling

And

Being

Can

Be.

Didn’t

Believe

It

Until

I was

Hanging

From

A wall,

With two

Fingers

Clinging

On

A

Rock,

And

No

Feet

Supporting

Me

Below.

How easy it

Is

To

Take for granted

A

Life

We’ve

Lived.

How easy

It is

To choose

Comfort

Over

Character

Building.

How easy

It

Is

To take

A

Leap,

And expect

Never to

Feel a scratch

From

The

Fall.

Feet

Can

Fall,

But it’s

Something

Different

When

It’s

Nothing

But

Endless

Feet

To

Fall.

We can fall into

An

Abyss

In life

Sometimes,

But it’s the

Ropes

We build

For ourselves

And the

Support

We get from

Each

Other

That keeps us

Climbing

Out

Of

Any

Hole,

Up

Any

Mountain,

Through

Any

Forest,

And we come

Out

Alive,

Scratches,

Scars,

And

All.

We may

Trip

And

Fall,

But it’s

The

Spring

In our

Step

That

Makes

Us

Adventurers

Not

Just

Wanderers.

I was

Once

Or

Twice

Living

Where

My

Hold

On

The

World

That

I was

Climbing

Was

No

Longer

A

Grip,

But

A

Situation

We

All

Face:

An

Unexpected

Drop.

Don’t

Let the

Rain

Drops

Keep

You from

Climbing

Back

Up.

Don’t let

A

Slippery

Slope

Keep you

From

Giving

It your

All

And

Making

Your

Own

Harness

To

Keep

Climbing

Despite

The

Fall.

It is vital

That you

Keep

Latching

Onto

What

Brings

One

Foot

In

Front

Of

The

Next,

Repeatedly,

Until you make

That journey:

The

Once

In

A

Lifetime

That will

Be

Retold,

Forever,

For

All

Lifetimes.
