Change Makers

We are the youth,

But this is not a youthful world.

We are being given this world,

But this not an inheritance

We want.

We are change makers,

But we’re gonna need a lot

More than the progress we’re making

To mend what’s breaking.

The world deteriorates,

But we’re not the only ones

Seeing it.

Then,

Why is it,

We’re the only ones worried?

We are thinkers,

But we must also be doers.

It’s one thing

To want change,

And another to be the change

You wish to see enacted.

The climate we exist with

Is not the same

One our descendants

Knew.

To defend the world

From ourselves,

We must think about

Our actions

And act on these

Thoughts

Too.

Let’s be better,

But teach others

Too.

Education is key

If we want the world

To continue

To be,

When our world

Demands change 

In what we do

To sustain

For the future

Of uncertainty.
