Shaped To Shelter
A riddle
Makes
The mind
Grow
Fond
Of
Uncertainty.
Here’s a
Descriptive
List
Of
What it could
Be:
I grow on
One
But I am
Only
Partially
The
Same.
What grows
Must be
Uprooted,
Repurposed,
And
Shaped
To
Shelter.
What
May
Bark
Becomes
Smooth
As
Velvet,
But rough
Around
The
Edges
All
The
Same.
A rope could
Tie
Me
Up,
But is also
The
Way
To
Escape.
A door
Opens
But
A door is not
Needed
To make
Me
Whole,
But it does
Certainly
Create
A
Hole.
We build
Me
With a branch
Or
Two.
Look at my roots
And you’ll
See
I
Am
Supported
By
Where
I come
From.
I grow on a tree
But how happy
Can
I
Be
When I’m
Perched
Here,
Teetering
Between
The
Sky
And the
Ground?
Enough counting
The
Trees,
There’s only
One
Explanation.
Remember where you come
From,
But don’t forget
Your foundation
Doesn’t
Root
You,
It supports your
Growth.
I am like a home
And the trees are my
Legs.
What
Am
I?
