If Time Were Human
This poem was requested by Kelsey Woodbridge! Thank you for the suggestion.
If time were a man,
He’d always be
Late.
Do you ever wonder
What Mr. Time
Would do if given the chance?
Squander away our opportunity
Perchance.
But chance keeps us going,
And time keeps
Running.
Mr. Time must be so
Fit with how much
Running he
Has
To
Do.
No stops,
No freezes,
Nothing standing between
Now
And
Next,
Past
And
Present.
Just
Time.
If time were a woman,
She’d be an hourglass.
Meticulous with our
Seconds,
Making each one
Worth
It.
It’s what’s inside
The
Glass
That
Proves
Beauty
Is among
Us.
Mrs. Time
Needs no introduction
Just as space needs
No
Space
To
Breathe.
Space takes our breathe
Away
In such a way
That leaves us
Breathless.
Every second passes with a movement of the wand
We call
Her
Hands.
Her hands are
Ticking
And
Tocking,
For
Eternity.
Until the batteries
Run
Out.
Tick
And
Tock
Are
Children
Of
Time.
Tick messes
With
Tock,
Creating a timeless
Classic
Of
Sibling
Rivalry.
The event keeps
Making the whole arrangement
A rift
In
Time.
We stare at a clock,
Never wondering for a second
How
Rude
The whole
Ordeal
Must make
Mr. and Mrs.
Time
Feel.
No time to waste,
No time to gain,
Nothing feels lost
When all you have
To do
Is find
Time
To make what matters most
Happen
Again
And
Again.
Wander for a while,
But listen for eternity.
The noise time makes
Will
Certainly become the background
To your days,
Impacting you in more
Ways
Than you could ever
Imagine.
A concept that humans created
Has a family
That keeps it in line.
When the clock strikes midnight,
It’s our bedtime,
Slippers on or off
And all,
But there is no sleep for the
Time
Family,
Only
Work
And
Wander
And
All.
What is time without a bit
Of
Wonder?
