Life throws water
In our face
To show us
How sensitive
We really
Are.
The feeling of the water on our skin
Makes us jump,
But it won’t cover the distance
That the water
Occupies.
If only a skip or
Two
Was the distance
That separates
Time
And
Being.
Isn’t it amazing
How ships
Sail
Slowly,
And
Yet,
Words
Can
Quickly
Cross the distance
Just as
Easily?
Feelings
Find their way
Into
The
Heart
Quicker
Than
Blood
Pours
Out.
The
Ebb
And
Flow
Of life and its
Journey
Keeps us on our
Toes
With land
Far
From
Sight,
But when you see
The docks,
It’ll be a good
Night.
A ship’s
Desolation
Makes seasickness
Seem like the lesser
Of
Two
Ultimatums.
Never lonely
With a crew,
But always searching
When you’re the lone
Sailor.
No adventure
Goes
Without its
Stormy
Waters.
It seems a
Hop,
Skip,
Jump or
Two,
Is hardly enough
To quantify
The distance between
A ship
And
Uncharted
Territory.
Every sailor
Has to take the reigns,
But why does it have
To be
That
You’re an ocean
Away?
Keep riding,
Keep soaring,
Keep the water underneath.
Churning like butter,
But clearer.
Tastes like lemons,
But sweeter.
Feels like the rain,
But formed as a pillow to soften the pain.
All the while,
Hopefully,
Hopelessly,
Avoiding shipwrecks
To remain,
Sane.
It's not about the wreck,
But the salvage,
That makes a person
A sailor.
Holding our lives together,
Piece by piece,
Nail by nail,
Until we find that our ship has
Hardly sailed,
But instead,
Was waiting at the docks
All this time
Floating,
Waiting,
Drifting,
Ready.
It’s only an ocean away.
A captain never quits
Till the day
He finds that scurvy was no match,
The seas were tamed,
The world is his oyster,
Ready to be conquered,
Ready to be explored.
No man can be jailed
From the world.
For once his ship has
Sailed
Off into the distance
That we thought should have been clear,
The fog will unveil
The destination to come,
For far is
Near.
Never fear,
The ocean shall always be
Here.
